Bathroom4Less is a UK online bathroom retailer that sells to the public and to trade buyers from one Shopify store. Visitors see standard prices. Trade buyers apply with a signup form that asks for proof of business, then log in to see trade pricing powered by BSS B2B Solution.
About Bathroom4Less
Bathroom4Less (bathroom4less.co.uk) is a UK online store for bathrooms. The navigation reads like a bathroom project: suites, furniture, toilets, basins, shower enclosures, baths, heating, showers, taps and accessories. Products carry brand names such as Home4Less, iBathUK and VeeBath, and the trade banner on the signup page lists VeeBath, iBathUK, nuie, Old London and Hudson Reed as top brands.
The home page makes four promises in a strip under the hero: fast UK delivery, best price across the UK, dedicated customer support and a trade discount that saves more on the next purchase. Delivery information on the product pages separates small parcels from large items such as vanity units, toilets and shower enclosures, which travel by an in-house network or by pallet.
Many shoppers will be homeowners planning a refit. A second group is visible only in the small print of the trade signup page: it accepts a CSCS card as proof of business for the construction trade, and tenancy paperwork for landlords. That tells you who the store expects to apply for a trade account: installers, builders and landlords who buy bathrooms again and again.

The B2B model: one store, two price levels
Bathroom4Less is a hybrid store. Anyone can buy at the listed retail price, and nothing about the catalogue is hidden from the public. A trade account is the second price level on top of the same products. The storefront says so in several places: the black announcement bar reads "Got a business? Sign up for a trade account today and unlock even better pricing!", the header has a Trade Account link next to My Account, and every product page ends its price block with a prompt to log in or register for the trade price.
The store also publishes who can open a trade account. Its terms say a buyer must be a registered UK company or a listed sole trader, proprietorship or partnership, that trade orders can only be delivered to a UK address, and that payment is taken immediately by card. A separate wholesale page, written for retailers and wholesalers rather than installers, describes a six-step program and says regular wholesale customers can apply for credit terms. Those credit terms are an arrangement between the store and the buyer, so this story does not attribute them to any app.
The approach is easy to describe in one sentence: everyone sees the shop, only verified businesses see trade prices. The rest of this spotlight looks at how the storefront delivers that, and which BSS B2B Solution features sit underneath.
How the storefront handles wholesale
One page for Register and Sign In
All three entry points lead to the page at /pages/trade-account-login. It has two tabs, Register and Sign In, so a returning trade buyer and a new applicant use the same URL. The Register tab is a BSS B2B Solution registration form titled Trader signup form. It starts with the contact fields you would expect (first name, last name, email, phone with a country code, address, city, country and zip code) and then a Business details block: business name, company registration number, company address, VAT number, a LinkedIn URL and an Acceptable Documents upload.

The form is built with the app’s form editor, where fields can be text, number, date, dropdown, checkbox, radio or file upload, set to 30, 50 or 100 percent width, and marked required. Bathroom4Less marks the identity fields as required and leaves a few business fields optional, which suits sole traders as well as limited companies that can add a company number and VAT number.
Proof of business, stated up front
Below the form the page lists the documents it accepts: a business card, letterhead, compliment slip, certificate of incorporation, a company invoice or order form, a tax document such as a VAT registration, a CSCS card, a tenancy agreement for landlords, a tenancy deposit protection certificate, a liability insurance certificate and a company bank statement. That is eleven options, and the page asks that they are up to date and legible. A buyer who is unsure what to attach does not need to email the store first.

The same page lists what a trade account gives: discounts, fast delivery, volume based price, a trade sale and service team, and order history with downloadable invoices. The offer is shown next to the form, so the reason to register is in view at the moment the buyer decides.
Retail price for guests, trade price after login
On a product page, a guest sees the normal price with "Tax included", the stock level and a short line: "Log in / register for Trade price". That line comes from the store’s own theme code, not from the app. What the app does is the other half of the job: once an approved buyer logs in, BSS B2B Solution custom pricing rules that target customer tags replace the retail price with the trade price on the product page, in collections and in the cart.

The production configuration for this shop matches what the storefront suggests. The shop has custom pricing rules that apply to customers by tag, with product conditions that go down to individual variants, which is how a bathroom catalogue with many sizes and finishes is priced accurately. A tax display rule is active too, which matters in the UK, where trade buyers usually compare prices without VAT while consumers see prices including it.
A landing page for wholesalers
The /pages/wholesale page is aimed at resellers rather than installers. It opens with a headline about bulk solutions, then lists reasons to buy, product categories, trending products with sale and regular prices, and the six-step program: apply for a wholesale account, browse the wholesale catalogue, place bulk orders, secure payment and credit options, nationwide delivery and dedicated support. The page promises flexible minimum order quantities and clear bulk pricing, and ends with a frequently asked questions block.

On a phone
The trade prompt survives the small screen. The price, the stock status and the log in or register line stay together above the quantity selector, so a tradesperson on a phone can sign in without hunting for the link.

Which BSS features power it
The table maps each thing a buyer sees to the BSS B2B Solution feature behind it, and says how we know. Where the evidence is the public storefront, you can check it yourself. Where it is production data, it describes the kind of rule that is switched on and never the number of orders, customers or revenue.
| What the buyer sees | BSS B2B Solution feature | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Trader signup form with business details and file upload | Registration form with approval and an automatic tag | Public page /pages/trade-account-login; an active form with a tag on approval in production data |
| Trade price after login, retail price before | Custom pricing by customer tag, down to variant level | Active custom pricing rules that apply to customer tags in production data |
| Prices clearly labelled tax included | Tax display rule | A tax display rule is switched on in production data |
| A minimum order requirement | Order limits (minimum order amount) | A minimum order amount rule is switched on in production data |
| Delivery cost that depends on the order | Shipping rate rule for tagged customers | A shipping rate rule for customer tags and selected collections is switched on |
If you want to build the same flow, three use cases cover most of it. Wholesale registration form with approval shows how applications, approval emails and the tag fit together. Give tagged wholesale customers special prices is the pricing half. Sell B2B and B2C from one Shopify store explains the hybrid pattern that Bathroom4Less uses. The user guide has step-by-step pages for registration forms and custom pricing.
What the admin looks like
The next three images are not Bathroom4Less’s admin. They are the documentation screens for the three settings above, so you can see where each one lives. The form editor is where a field list becomes a signup form.

In a pricing rule, the Customers card decides who gets the price. Choosing customer tags means approved buyers get the trade price the moment the registration form adds their tag, with no manual price changes.

The tax display card controls how prices are shown, including both prices at once. This is the kind of setting a UK trade store uses to keep consumer and business views consistent.

What other merchants can copy
You do not need a bathroom catalogue to reuse this pattern. These are the choices that make it work:
- Keep the public shop open. Retail buyers still purchase, and trade buyers can see the product before they apply.
- Put the trade offer in three places. An announcement bar, a header link and a prompt on the product page mean a visitor meets the offer wherever they land.
- Use one page for Register and Sign In. Returning buyers and new applicants share a URL, so you maintain one page and one support answer.
- List the proof you accept. Eleven document types, spelled out, remove the first round of back and forth emails.
- Ask for company and VAT numbers, not a long essay. A short business block gives you what you need to approve quickly.
- Say who is eligible. Registered UK company, listed sole trader, UK delivery address: three lines of terms stop unsuitable applications.
- Price by tag, not by customer. A tag added on approval lets one rule serve every approved buyer, which is much easier to maintain than per-customer prices.
A final point: keep the price prompt honest. Bathroom4Less shows the retail price to guests and says plainly that a lower trade price exists. It does not hide the catalogue or pretend the retail price is the only one.

FAQ: running trade and retail on one Shopify store
Can one Shopify store serve both retail and trade buyers?
Yes. Bathroom4Less shows retail prices to guests and trade prices to logged-in, approved buyers. In BSS B2B Solution, custom pricing rules target customers by tag, so the same catalogue serves both groups. See the use case on selling B2B and B2C from one store.
How do I check that a trade applicant is a real business?
Ask for proof on the registration form, as Bathroom4Less does with company number, VAT number and a document upload, and review each application before you approve it. For tax IDs the app can check EU VAT, UK VAT, US EIN, Australian ABN and India GST numbers live while the applicant types. Uploaded documents are reviewed by a person.
Do trade buyers need a separate login?
No. A trade buyer is a normal Shopify customer. The approval adds a tag, and the tag is what unlocks the trade price. That is why one page can hold both Register and Sign In.
What does the buyer see before approval?
Whatever you decide. On Bathroom4Less a guest sees retail prices and the log in prompt. If you want prices hidden from guests altogether, BSS B2B Lock does that, and it is a separate decision from tag pricing.
Can I show prices with and without VAT?
Yes. The tax display rule can show prices excluding tax, including tax or both, on product, cart and collection pages. UK trade stores often show business buyers prices without VAT while consumers see prices with it.
