Glossary: Pricing
Customer-specific pricing
Customer-specific pricing is a price set for one named customer or company instead of for a whole group. It is used for key accounts whose price has been negotiated.
In detail
Most wholesale prices come from a group: everyone on the gold tier pays the gold price. Customer-specific pricing goes one step further and gives a single account its own price for some or all products. It suits large accounts, negotiated deals, and buyers whose volume or history earns terms the standard tiers do not cover.
The benefit is a price that matches the agreement. The buyer sees exactly what was agreed and does not need a discount code or a manual invoice, and your team does not have to correct orders by hand. The risk is upkeep: every named price is another row to review when costs change, and a long list of exceptions is hard to explain or audit.
Keep exceptions few. Put most buyers into groups and price the groups, and use account-level prices only where the deal is truly unique. Record who agreed the price, when, and when it is reviewed, and use a consistent rule for what wins when an account-level price and a group price both apply.
Customer-specific pricing is related to contract pricing, which adds a time period and conditions such as a volume commitment. A price for one customer can exist without a contract, and a contract price can apply to a group of locations, so the two words are close but not identical.
Example
A hand lotion costs $8.00 on the gold price list. For one national chain, the seller agrees $7.40 on a yearly volume of 5,000 units, and that account sees $7.40 while other gold buyers still see $8.00.
On Shopify
Shopify says Plus stores can assign catalogs directly to specific companies and company locations for customer-level pricing. On Basic, Grow and Advanced, direct catalog assignment is not available, and catalogs are assigned to B2B markets, with up to 3 active catalogs across all B2B markets. A merchant can also set a custom price on a B2B draft order.

In BSS B2B apps
BSS B2B Solution's Custom Pricing can target a single customer, a customer tag or a company location. Targeting by company location is on higher paid plans, see the pricing page. When several rules apply, a priority from 0 to 99 decides, and the lower number wins.
