Glossary: Basics
ERP integration
An ERP integration connects an online store to the seller's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, so that products, prices, customers, stock and orders move between them automatically instead of being keyed twice.
In detail
Wholesalers and manufacturers usually keep their master data in an ERP such as NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central: customers, price classes, stock, credit status and invoices. The online store is where buyers order. Without an integration, someone retypes orders and prices, and the two systems drift apart.
Typical flows go both ways. From the ERP to the store: products, prices or customer-specific prices, stock levels, customer accounts and payment terms. From the store to the ERP: new orders, new customer applications and PO numbers. Decide which system is the source of truth for each kind of data, for example price in the ERP and order in the store until it is accepted.
There are three common ways to build it: a ready-made connector from an app store, an integration platform (iPaaS), or custom code on the store's API. Pick by effort and by how unusual your data is. Stock and prices often sync in batches, hourly or overnight, while orders should move within minutes. Plan for rate limits, error handling and a log you can read.
Start with a small slice, such as 20 products and three customers, and test the failures too: what happens when a sync fails, and who is told.
Example
A distributor keeps 12 price classes in its ERP. A nightly job pushes the changed prices to the store, so a price edit made on Monday afternoon is live for the right buyer groups by Tuesday morning, and orders flow back to the ERP every 15 minutes.
On Shopify
Shopify's Help Center says you can integrate B2B with an ERP, CRM or other external system to sync customer data, orders, inventory, product catalogs and pricing. It lists direct integrations from the Shopify App Store, iPaaS providers and custom API-based integrations. Companies and company locations can carry an external ID, such as an existing ERP ID, for syncing.

In BSS B2B apps
BSS B2B Solution has a Public API on the Platinum plan. Your developer or integration partner can use it to create, update and delete Custom Pricing, Price List, Volume Pricing, Discount Code and registration records, and to read customers and products. It has no orders endpoint, so it does not send orders to an ERP, and it is not a ready-made ERP connector.
