Kaia & Crystals is a Barcelona-based importer of crystals, minerals, incense and gemstone jewelry that sells to shoppers and to professional resellers from one Shopify store. Everyone sees retail prices, while approved businesses unlock wholesale prices and a first-order discount. This spotlight walks through the wholesale page and the BSS apps behind it.
Key takeaways
- A banner above the header on every page asks professionals to request a wholesale account, so the wholesale route is never more than one click away.
- A long Wholesale Info page does the persuading: sourcing, service, who the program is for, the pricing policy, four application steps and a 10% welcome offer.
- The store states that wholesale prices are visible only to approved accounts, which in a Shopify store is typically done with customer tags and price rules.
- The merchant reviewed both BSS B2B Solution and BSS B2B Lock on the Shopify App Store and thanked the support team for step-by-step setup help.
About Kaia & Crystals
Kaia & Crystals describes itself as an importer that specializes in wholesale orders. On its wholesale page the company says it imports crystals and stones, holistic tools, esoteric products and gemstone jewelry directly from partners at origin, without intermediaries, and ships worldwide from Barcelona with tracking on every shipment. The catalog navigation covers new arrivals, crystals, shapes, kits and sets, crystal bracelets and incense, and the product pages carry practical detail such as type, colour, hardness, approximate size and weight, origin and a note that natural stones vary from piece to piece.
The store also speaks to a European audience. The page structure on its site shows English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese versions of its key pages, which matters for a business whose professional buyers are crystal shops, herbal and wellness stores, interior decoration stores, therapists, yoga and reiki centres and other resellers across several countries.

The B2B model: retail for all, wholesale for approved professionals
Kaia & Crystals runs a hybrid model. Its home page welcomes “both individual buyers and businesses”, and the product grid shows retail prices and Add to Cart buttons to any visitor. The wholesale layer sits on top. According to the Wholesale Info page, professionals apply for an account, the application is reviewed internally, and once approved the buyer gains access to the wholesale catalog and pricing. The page is blunt about the reason: “Wholesale prices are only visible to approved accounts, allowing us to maintain a stable retail market and ensure healthy profit margins for our partners.”
That reasoning is worth borrowing. A wholesaler that sells to the public as well as to shops has to protect the shops from being undercut by the merchant’s own storefront. Keeping the discounted price behind an approval step, and saying so openly, turns a restriction into a promise to partners. The application also carries a welcome offer, 10% off the first wholesale order, and a note that wholesale access is intended for professionals only.
For merchants considering the same structure, our guides on customer onboarding and selling B2B and B2C from one Shopify store describe the common patterns.
A walkthrough of the wholesale surfaces
A banner that never leaves the screen
The first wholesale surface is not a page at all. A light blue announcement bar above the header reads “Request a wholesale account here” and links to the application. It appears on the home page, the wholesale page and product pages alike. A buyer who arrives from a search for a single stone never has to hunt through the menu to learn that wholesale exists. The home page repeats the invitation lower down with an “Apply for a Wholesale Account” block and a “Create a wholesale account” button.
A wholesale page that answers the buyer’s objections
The Wholesale Info page is long on purpose. After a headline and an apply button, it covers why to work with Kaia & Crystals (direct import, strict selection, exclusive pieces, protected wholesale pricing, special pricing for high-volume orders, affordable minimum order quantities and permanent stock on key products) and what service to expect (each product checked before shipping, plastic-free packaging, tracking, immediate order confirmation and fast support).

A distinctive block is the Live Sales Service. Buyers can book a video call and see the warehouse in real time, hand-pick exact pieces and set quantities. For natural stones, where no two pieces are identical, a call like that answers the question wholesale buyers care about most: what exactly will arrive.

The page then names who the program is for, states the pricing policy and lists four steps: open the registration form, fill in personal or business details, wait for the review, and gain access to the wholesale catalog and pricing once approved. A second button repeats the offer of 10% off the first wholesale order.

The application form and what we could not see
The application lives on a separate Wholesale signup form page, which embeds a BSS registration form. That form loads only in a full interactive browser session. It did not render in our automated capture, so we do not describe its fields here. What the configuration data does tell us is that the store has an active registration form that applies a customer tag to approved applicants and sends email notifications, which is the usual route to a wholesale price group.
On a phone
Wholesale buyers also order from their phones, between customers. The wholesale page works on a small screen: the announcement bar stays on top, the headline stacks and the apply button sits above the fold.

Which BSS features power it
Kaia & Crystals installed BSS B2B Solution in October 2025 and later added BSS B2B Lock. For this spotlight we confirmed the feature types in the app’s configuration data without looking at any business volumes. The setup includes:
- Custom pricing for tagged customers. An active custom pricing rule applies to customers carrying a tag, which is how approved wholesale accounts see a different price from guests. Read how to give tagged wholesale customers special prices and the custom pricing guide.
- Volume pricing for tagged customers. One active quantity break rule is also tag-based, which fits the page’s promise of special pricing for high-volume orders. See tiered pricing and quantity breaks and the volume pricing guide.
- Order limits. An active order limit rule sets a minimum, in line with the claim of affordable minimum order quantities. See enforcing minimum order quantity and value.
- Registration form with tags and auto tags. The registration form applies a tag and an auto tag rule is active. See a wholesale registration form with approval and approving and notifying applicants.
- Tax display and manual orders. A tax display rule is active and the Manual Orders module has been used. Manual orders let a merchant build an order for a buyer, a natural fit for sales made over a video call, although we cannot see how Kaia & Crystals uses it. See placing orders on behalf of customers.
Two older custom pricing rules and two discount code rules also exist but are switched off, which is common for stores that experiment before settling on a structure. The merchant also installed BSS B2B Lock and reviewed it separately. Because retail prices are public on this store, we could not see from outside what Lock protects, so we say nothing about its rules. If you want to hide prices or products until approval, our access control hub explains the options.

The three screens above are from a demo store. They show the three building blocks of the pattern: an audience (here, customer tags), a price rule with quantity ranges, and an auto tag that gives a customer the tag in the first place. Our wholesale pricing hub explains how these rules combine, and the guide on how customer targeting works covers the audience options.
What other merchants can copy
- Put the wholesale invitation in the announcement bar. It costs nothing and it reaches buyers on every page, including product pages from search.
- Explain your pricing policy in one honest sentence. Saying why prices are visible only to approved accounts reassures partners and filters out casual requests.
- Sell the service, not only the stone. A video call, tracking, plastic-free packaging and permanent stock are reasons to pick one wholesaler over another when prices are similar.
- Show the steps. Four numbered steps, from form to approved access, remove the fear of an application that disappears into a void.
- Add a welcome offer. A first-order discount gives approved buyers a reason to place the first order now.
- Use one tag for the whole program. The same tag can drive custom prices, quantity breaks and order limits, so approving a buyer changes everything at once.

Both reviews talk about guided setup rather than a single feature. For an importer whose own expertise is sourcing stones, not configuring a storefront, that is the real value of hands-on onboarding support.
Create a registration form, tag approved buyers and attach a price rule to the tag. You can add quantity breaks and order limits afterwards.

How can I keep wholesale prices visible only to approved buyers on Shopify?
A common method is to give approved customers a tag and attach a custom pricing or price list rule to that tag, so the wholesale price appears only when a tagged customer is logged in. If you must also hide the retail price or product from guests, a login lock app can do that.
Should the announcement bar link to a form or to an information page?
Kaia & Crystals links to its wholesale information and application route. A short information page first suits businesses that need reassurance; a direct form suits stores whose buyers already know them.
Can I give high-volume buyers better prices?
Yes. Quantity break rules apply a discount when a buyer orders enough units, and they can be limited to tagged customers so only approved accounts see the tiers.
Can I take orders from a video call or a phone call?
BSS B2B Solution includes manual orders, where a merchant builds an order for a customer in the admin with pricing, discounts and payment terms. It is useful for assisted selling.
Does this setup work for a store that sells in several languages?
BSS B2B Solution supports translations for its storefront elements, and the registration form can be translated for cross-border buyers. See the translation guide.
