Key takeaways

  • Native Shopify B2B was extended to Basic, Grow and Advanced on April 2, 2026 at no extra cost, and Plus has it too (Shopify). Three of the BSS examples run on Basic or Advanced.
  • Good examples do one job clearly: a gated application, customer-specific prices, quick reordering or private trade information.
  • Reported results are the merchants’ own. They show what changed, not what your store will see.
  • Public stores show the visible part of a B2B setup: a login, a business-only registration or a no-minimum policy. We list only what we could see.
  • Pick the example closest to your biggest wholesale problem, then copy the setup, not the design.

What are Shopify B2B solutions?

A Shopify B2B solution is any way to sell to business buyers on Shopify: the built-in B2B features, an app, Shopify Plus, or custom development. Most stores mix two of them. The table shows what each type does best.

How we picked these Shopify B2B examples

  • BSS case studies. Eight live case studies on this site, newest first. Numbers and quotes come from each study and are reported by the merchant.
  • Public stores. Three stores whose response headers say Shopify and whose B2B features show on public pages. We read the pages on October 9, 2026 and list only what was visible. We do not know which apps they use, so we name none.
  • No invented numbers. No market-size figure, no growth percentage without a source, no customer we cannot link.

  • Reported: wholesale pricing and trade information kept private, with two years of use behind the story.
  • Lesson: gate prices, not the whole store, if you want search traffic.

  • Reported: a 50% increase in approved wholesale accounts with structured onboarding.

10. Persell: business customers only, with a registration form

The Dutch Persell site says it focuses exclusively on business customers in the Benelux. 11. Chefs’ Island: a membership-only corporate site

The Japanese online shop for professional kitchen equipment and ingredients Chefs’ Island describes itself as fully membership-based. It offers corporate accounts with special prices and member-only products, and a welcome coupon of 2,000 yen on a first order of 10,000 yen or more before tax, shown on the home page. What each example shows

What do the best Shopify B2B websites have in common?

  • A clear way in. A registration form, an approval step and a login, so a buyer knows how to start.
  • Prices that match the buyer. Customer-specific or group prices, and volume tiers where the order size varies.
  • Rules that match how they ship. Minimums, case packs and increments enforced in the cart.
  • Fast repeat ordering. A quick order page or reorder list, because repeat buyers do not browse.
  • Private trade information. Prices and terms shown to approved buyers only.
  • Terms that suit businesses. Net terms, purchase orders or a quote for a big order.

How to build a store like these examples

The steps below use BSS B2B Solution, Lock and Quote on a demo store. Each step links to a guide.

Step 1: Collect and approve applications

Build a registration form, choose manual or automatic approval and assign a tag when you approve. This is the core of the Schlechte Karten, DermaplanePro and Beeswax Works setups. Read the registration form with approval use case and our registration form guide.

Registration form settings: manual approval, auto-approval and what happens after registration.

Step 2: Give each tagged buyer their price

Create a Custom Pricing rule for the tag, or a Price List on Platinum. The buyer sees the wholesale price with the retail price struck through, and a guest sees retail only.

A logged-in wholesale buyer sees the wholesale price next to the retail price.

Step 3: Keep trade information private

Hide prices and Add to cart from guests with BSS B2B Lock. The visitor sees a Login to View Price button. This keeps wholesale prices off the public page while the rest of the store stays open. See the access control hub and our hide price guide.

A guest sees a Login to View Price button instead of the price.

Step 4: Add a quick order page for repeat buyers

BSS B2B Quote adds a Quick Order page with search, filters and a CSV or XLSX Bulk Import. The upload adds items to the cart, and the page needs an Online Store 2.0 theme.

Step 5: Offer payment terms

Shopify’s native net terms work on every plan. BSS Net Terms adds a Pay later button on the cart for buyers who match a rule, on Advanced and above. It has no credit limit and no Net 45. See our Net 30 guide.

Limits to keep in mind

  • A blended store shares one storefront with D2C customers, so it cannot be gated to B2B customers only. A dedicated B2B store can be (Shopify store types). See the blended store glossary entry.
  • Native B2B on Basic, Grow and Advanced allows 3 active catalogs across all B2B markets. Direct company catalogs, deposits and partial payments need Plus (plan table).
  • Case-study results are reported by the merchants. They are not a forecast for your store.
  • BSS B2B Lock restricts storefront access through theme code. The checkout lock that DermaplanePro uses needs Shopify Plus and a paid BSS plan, and it is not guaranteed to block every checkout.
  • BSS B2B Quote: guests can submit a quote, but approving needs a signed-in customer.

Frequently asked questions

What are Shopify B2B solutions?

They are the ways to sell to businesses on Shopify: Shopify’s native B2B features, apps that add applications, quotes, locks or custom prices, Shopify Plus, and custom development. Most stores combine native features with one or two apps.

Can Shopify be used for B2B?

Yes. Shopify announced on April 2, 2026 that its native B2B features are included on Basic, Grow and Advanced at no extra cost, and Plus keeps unlimited catalogs, direct company catalogs, partial payments and deposits.

What is a good example of a Shopify B2B store?

Alpha Coffee, Schlechte Karten and KAPR are three BSS customers with live case studies. Microfiber Wholesale, Persell and Chefs’ Island are public Shopify stores with visible B2B features such as no minimums, business-only registration and member-only corporate accounts.

Do I need Shopify Plus for a B2B store?

No. Schlechte Karten runs its B2B storefront on Shopify Basic and Alpha Coffee on Advanced, according to their case studies. Plus is needed for unlimited catalogs, direct company catalogs, deposits and partial payments, and for the BSS checkout lock.

How much does a Shopify B2B store cost?

Native B2B adds no fee to your plan: Basic is $19, Grow $49 and Advanced $299 per month billed yearly, and Plus starts at $2,300 per month (Shopify pricing, October 9, 2026). Apps are extra. BSS B2B Solution starts at $29 per month on paid plans.

Can one store serve both B2B and retail customers?

Yes. Schlechte Karten, Best Buddy and Lift-Spares run retail and wholesale from one store. Shopify calls this a blended store and says it cannot be gated to B2B customers only.

How do B2B stores hide wholesale prices?

They require a login to see prices, or lock prices by customer tag. In BSS B2B Lock a guest sees a Login to View Price button. Hidden prices are a display control, not a security measure.

How do I choose the right Shopify B2B solution?

Start with native B2B if you have three or fewer price groups. Add an app for applications, tag-based prices, quotes or locked content. Consider Plus when you need many price levels per company or deposits.
